Since election day is three days away I thought I'd post a few more of my draft political poems. Hopefully they'll make sure you get out to vote for my favorite: Mr. Joe Biden. How could anyone really want to vote for the other guy? The last election stages Are going on: That election year ritual Of 60 Minutes interviews With the candidates Airs tonight Large venues have opened Their doors for early voting And poll watching and speculation As to who will win are going on full force. I fluctuate between confidence That my guy, Joe Biden, Will win, and win in a landslide, Considering the long lines Of early voters all over the country, And being scared Donald will somehow pull it off as a result of all his dirty tricks And paying off his base. Poems from the latest Poem A Day challenge
I have to confess right from the start that I didn't finish the November 2016 Poem A Day (PAD) challenge. I was so caught up in my husband's recovery from his Grand Canyon accident that writing poetry during that time was the last thing on my mind. However, I wrote a poem a day for the first fifteen days. Here's a couple, including the prompts I wrote to. Write a wire poem. A wire poem could be about something that needs wireslike maybe a robot, TV, or automobile. But birds huddle on telephone wires, people wire money to each other, and kids can get wired off of too much candy and/or caffeine. Not a lot of writing going on now
For the last couple of weeks I've been really caught up in the election. I couldn't take my eyes and ears off of the conventions, nor can I stop reading about it in the newspapers and online. I'm also glued to the news shows every evening. Therefore not a lot of writing is going on in my life right now. In the last election I refused to post anything either here or any of my other social media networks about politics or my views about politics. I didn't want to offend any of my memoir customers who had different political views than mine. This election is too crucial for me to keep silent. And already I'm sure you can tell I'm with Hillary. There is no way I would vote for a person like Donald Trump. But this is not to say I feel she is the lesser of two evils.
