The only photography class I ever took was in eighth grade. I loved it and even learned to develop and print my photos in the school dark room. Now I take photos when we travel. Since we’ve recently returned from a week-long vacation in Jackson Wyoming with tours of the Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks, I’ll share a few here.
I loved the beauty of the Grand Tetons, the Elk Refuge, the old Mormon Barn, and the Lawrence S. Rockefeller Preserve that we visited before hiking to Phelps Lake. However, a highlight of the week was a day-long trip to Yellowstone conducted by the naturalist who works at our hotel. She was terrific – she lectured us most of the day, and while we were on our way back , she even found a way to test what we learned. All in fun though. No grades given out.
Here’s the list of things we saw that day:
- Bull elk with antlers in Grand Teton
- Moose from Jackson Lake Lodge
- Lewis River Canyon and Lewis River
- West Thumb Geyser Basin with hot springs and geysers on the shores of Yellowstone Lake
- Buffleheads, Canada Geese, and a view from Yellowstone Lake Hotel from Gull Point Drive
- Lunch at Fishing Bridge
- Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Upper, and Lower Falls
- Mud Volcano mudpot and Dragon’s Mouth hotspring
- Bison in Hayden Valley
