A couple of weeks ago I wrote about all the products I need to complete and get to my new publisher, Aberdeen Bay so my novel, Papa’s Shoes can be published. And I’m definitely closing in on it. The list included the following:
1. Author photo
2. Author bio
3. Cover art
4. Reviews for back cover
5. Book synopsis (short and long version)
6. Dedication
7. Acknowledgement
8. Book cover and synopsis for your previously published books
And as of today I’ve finished all but two – the cover art and all the reviews for the back cover.
I’ve found several photos that I think could work for the cover but I don’t know their source for getting permission to use them. To combat that problem I’m going to meet with an artist friend of mine and maybe she can reinvent one of these photos so I don’t have to worry about getting permission at all. I’m very excited to work with her because I love her very creative and unique work.

The other holdout – the review blurbs for the back cover are one-third complete. I asked three authors to read the novel and then write reviews and so far I have one – and it’s terrific. Here it is:

Getting this review sure gave me a sigh of relief. I have been so worried about what others would think of my book.
One more thing. This past week my photography friend, Paul Blieden, took my photo for my novel’s back cover. Paul had taken the photo for my memoir Leaving the Hall Light On in 2011 and also was the photographer for our book of photographs and poems, The Emerging Goddess. So it’s obvious I love his work. What do you think?
Your photo is lovely, and so is the review. It’s difficult getting endorsements, I find. Writers are SO busy, and want to oblige but have trouble finding the time. I admire all of your accomplishments and look forward to your next book.
