My six-year old website has a new look

In case you’ve wondered where I’ve been, I’m happy to say I’m back to blogging with a whole new look and a new blog host site. I’ve moved, thanks to a wonderful web master and domain host, from Blogspot to WordPress. I felt after six years it was time for a change. Plus I’ve heard from my many blogging friends that WordPress will much better serve my needs. Come back in a few months and I’ll let you know if I find that to be true. Right now I’m knee-deep in questions and problems. First of all I have no idea how to even post this. It’s like going back to Square One. But I’ve found, via my trusty friend Google, a WordPress support document called: First Steps with WordPress. If it successfully helps me post this, you’ll know I learned something. If not, well, what can I say?

Then I have to learn how to edit. When my archives from Blogspot got transferred over, most of my careful formatting went by the wayside. Line spacing is all over the place and the text is no longer wrapped around the photos. So I need to reformat/edit every one. I also have to learn about Search Engine Optimation (SEO), a tool I never used on Blogspot. Really there is no end to what new things I have to learn about my new WordPress . So please be patient with me. Actually I’m the one who needs patience. Perhaps a little meditation will help. In the meantime, I have to brag that a poem I wrote last summer at Esalen was just accepted for inclusion in Story Circle Networks’ 2013 Anthology. And speaking of poetry, I’m going to attend a new poetry workshop that starts on Friday. I’m happy to say I’m back to working on my favorite form of writing poetry. I’m also making great progress on my novel revision. My goal is to revise a chapter a week. I only have eighteen more to go. Again, thank you all for your patience and for coming by the new Choices. Please let me know what you think of the new look.

  1. It looks lovely, Madeline, simple and elegant. Love the tag line..”where Madeline Sharples writes….Looks like you’re catching on quickly. WordPress is all I know and has been a great platform. Best wishes on your new venture!

Thanks so much, Kathy. I’m glad you like it. It was a huge change for me – so hard to give up what I was so used to. I’m still not completely getting the hang of WordPress, but I’m confident it will come in time. All best to you as well. xoxo
